Groningen Kroon


  • Dessert / Cooker – good for eating raw, with crisp sweet juicy flesh, the apples are also good for cooking
  • Fairly small red blushed, rounded fruits
  • Pick late September / early October
  • Very productive tree that does well in this locality

Groningen is a northern province in the Netherlands and this is where the variety was found as a chance seedling in the late nineteenth century. Not introduced to the UK until much later.
